IBM buy Red Hat Linux

    Well it looks like the big IBM are back in the mainstream OS market again.

    I remember playing around with their OS2 Warp thing back in the 90s. In my opinion a better OS than Microsoft had back then. Microsoft were much better at marketing their software and got the developers making software for their OS, while IBM did not.

    IBM mainly wants it for their cloud customers but it also gives them a desktop OS option too. Linux is getting better and more hardware is supported well. Things like what Valve are doing to make gaming on Linux better could start a large growth in Linux.

    IBM are one of those companies that corporations would trust to roll out Linux on their desktops. Which could be a big threat to Microsoft.

    Will certainly be interesting to see what they do with it.
