Sounds like a great idea to get kids thinking about and creating engineering solutions.

Lego is all very well, but if you want to encourage your children to become engineers then you have to introduce them to something more stretching. My dad gave me a meccano set, but I never got the hang of it. Though my dad was not particularly technical, if he had helped us, we could have got a lot more out of it. The trick is to help them do it, not do it yourself.

I had mainly Lego with the odd bit of metal and plastic meccano. Always got on well with Lego better but would use whatever was around, so the meccano was mainly trimmings.

These days I would give them a few pencils, old fashion washing up liquid bottle, some tape and paper.

Really enjoyed watching that. The daughter wondered what the clacking noises were and came over to see - and couldn't walk away until the end. Makes a change for her to watch something on Youtube that isn't One D or 5SOS! :roflmao:
