I used to work for Marconi Underwater Systems Ltd, and later Smiths Industries.
Very well then, lets hear it,what did you do?
No seriously,unless it er....um.........classified?
Nothing much, tested some sonar software, and failed to transport some software from an old mine simulator product to a new platform at MUSL. At Smiths I coded and tested software for engine management systems, which is not as impressive as it sounds because the module designs were handed to us. There was usually only one way of coding them. That was for civil aircraft though. I had a great deal of trouble testing a Health and Usage Monitoring System for a Hawk aircraft. I was also tasked with attempting to resolve discrepancies in design documents for a Harrier's engine management system. Again, not as impressive as it sounds because the plane and its engine had been flying for years. Usually it was just a question of saying the value in one drawing was right and in another drawing, wrong, which was usually but not always obvious.
Happy with school! Now I know you're upto something else.
